Summary of the game
Action-adventure game following the hero-protagonist Lara Croft, a British archaeologist with a passion for uncovering ancient secrets; she is commissioned by Texan businesswoman Natla to recover the three pieces of the Scion, an ancient Atlantean artifact whose pieces have been hidden in Peru, Greece, and Egypt. The Egyptian part of the narrative takes place in the so-called ‘City of Khamoon’, presented as a previously undiscovered site inside a cave in the desert. The visual design evokes the royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and the location is filled with cartouches, sphinxes, obelisks and re-animating mummies; to the audience; these objects serve as visual indexes for ‘Ancient Egypt’. The game was remade as Tomb Raider: Anniversary in 2007 by Crystal Dynamics.
