Egyptomania narratives or motifs
In the first season, Dr Anna Castillo (starred by Alicia Coppola) discovers the long-forgotten tomb of Antony and Cleopatra, which is located in the Great Pyramid at Giza. She gets abducted by Karim Farouk (starred by Oded Fehr), an Egyptian terrorist believed to have been killed in a drone attack, who blows up the pyramid to cover up his misdeeds. In order to safe Dr Castillo, a former FBI agent specialising in works of art Danny McNamara (starred by Matt Barr) tries to recruit Lexi Vaziri, a master thief and Danny’s ex-partner, to work with him to stop Farouk from realising his plans. In doing so they will have to confront the secret Brotherhood of Serapis, which was entrusted with the task of guarding the tomb of Antony and Cleopatra. As the series develops, Lexi finds out that her mother was also the member of the Brotherhood and that she herself is the direct descendant of Cleopatra.
